"Nine"

A movie that tries to revive 8 1/2 but that's not worth more than a 7. The editing is quite good but the movie on the whole isn't. If anything makes it worth it is to see Fellini's world recaptured through the lens of morality. Bad Fellini, bad. And there's also the existentialist anxiety... but that was already there in 8 1/2 and La Dolce Vita.

Anyway, if there's something truly interesting in Fellini's movies - and here "Nine" fails completely with it's predictable happy ending - is that "state of suspended damnation, like a work of art - detached".
