Sobre a hermética induzida num texto

Podemos dificultar a vida ao leitor quanto quisermos - só a estamos a dificultar aos que queriam de facto compreender o que escrevemos. Por outro lado, há toda uma comunidade de pseudo-leitores que nos aplaudiria ignorando se acabáramos de apresentar o número do palhaço ou o do leão.

So please, and once again: Keep It Short and Simple*.


* And simple is a different word from simplistic.

People don't intrinsically change

One single action does not define us. We are the sum of many actions, many of which involuntary. In order to change, we would have to change many times, one per each action. Most unlikely. In other words: moods may be transitory; personality is permanent.

The artist is a visionary

Not just because he sees the big picture, but because the big picture is the result of his painting. Therefore, the artist must not pursue the cult of a specialised brain.

Rejection paradox

Some people are so afraid of being rejected that they start by rejecting others so as not to give them a chance to do so.

The ironic part is: guess who are the only ones to reject them?

Usually the people who argue against stereotyping are the same who reveal themselves unwilling to revise their own stereotypes.

I'm finally finished with The Catcher In The Rye. I bought it and started reading it just before Salinger died (blame it on a certain song by the Divine Comedy) and it didn't feel as spooky as it did a cliché doing it now. Because everybody knows authors never sell as much as when they're buried.

The paradox of Free
